ON 'WHAT ARE THE ODDS'?

This weird friend of mine had this observation:

"Wow! Almost lost my wife, my kids, and everything, due to my gambling addiction. Fortunately, I won them back on the next hand."

Sigh. Is that guy sane? Think that's a bad bet.
